IBAWI AND THE M's
Function room in Mandaluyong near the "Ibawi" Fish Restaurant.
Owners of Ibawi ask me to look at their neon sign and tell them if it is
OK, they don't want it to look like the "M" of McDonalds.
___ The function room is for a meeting. I see Sheerin. She's planning to
do the Regine album. The function room is not in Manila, it feels like a
province setting, even the people setting the room up (i.e. decorating)
are speaking in Visayan.
KELLET KILLER
They're looking for a killer among my Kellet School mates in Hong
Kong... they're digging up pictures. In one pic, I see Lyrion Felipe (R.I.P.)
in Kellet and I suddenly remember how glad I was to see him when I registered
for Grade 3 here in the Philippines. (Of course, none of this is true.)
CMT GRADUATION
Then I am on a truck with 4A '89. We head for the fields outside of
the Blue Eagle Gym, this is for general practice for the Citizen's Military
Training graduation practice. All the other classes are already there.
Kami na lang ang late. We form lines and ask permission to fall in...
___ The string quartet of Mayos Esmilla arrives. They're here to rpactice
for the graduation too. And it looks like they will sweat it out here
in the open fields.

THE ALGEBRA INTERVIEWEE
Class again today, taught by my 1st year college Algebra teacher.
Except instead of numbers, we're talking about writing. First assignment:
the lucky person to interview the cleaning girl in the hallways (a girl
named "Pastor") gets a bonus to his/her grade. We all hop around
to find her. I see dust being swept off the outdoor awning. I go out,
shout my intentions to interview her and she agrees. She's on the roof
of the building. As she bends down to speak with me, I see into her white
dress. She's cute too.

IMAGES OF HEAT
So there I am in a high place, looking out at the retreat center of
a convent. There is a glass tower with canvas covering its sides. I am
explaining to the priest that the reason for the canvas "curtains"
on the massive tower is because, below that tower is the library where
esoteric works can be found. When the sun glares as it usually does this
time of year, the library becomes unbearably bright.
___ Then I am in a car with Jaygee, we are trying to get out of a dangerous
zigzag road area. To our right there is lava bubbling where a river should
be. And the heat seeps into the car.
___ I am standing in a crowded school area, I spot (my ex-assistant editor)
Shani all dressed up and wandering about the campus, not recognizing me
until the last minute. And I also see a rather sleep-deprived (ACMGer)
Carol De Vera shuffling towards one of the aircon rooms, in search of
a table to grab some z's on.
___ The heat is terrible.
